Dr. Sánchez-Silva main area of research is structural reliability and risk analysis. His work is directed mainly towards risk assessment and management of physical infrastructure related problems. His work includes stochastic modeling and optimization. His research also includes problems where the socioeconomic context and the environment play a significant role, and consequently, traditional risk analysis models can only be used partially.
Eisuke Kita was born in Japan in 1964. He moved straight from high school to School of Engineering of Mie University. After getting the bachelor and the master degree, he moved to Graduate School of Mechanical Engineering of the Nagoya University and graduated with the Doctor of Engineering in 1991. He spent 9 years in the School of Mechanical Engineering as a lecturer and an assistant professor, and 11 years in the School of Informatics and Science as an associate professor. He became, in 2009, the full professor of the Graduate School of Information Science of the Nagoya University. His publications include numerical analysis schemes, multi-agent traffic simulation, artificial market simulation, application of Bayesian network and so on. He earned the honor as Encouraging prize of Japan Society of Mechanical Engineering in 2000, Encouraging prize of Computer Science Committee of Information Processing Society of Japan in 2007 and 2009.
There are many things that you do not know how it will happen to various objects in nature and society, such as environment, buildings, stock prices, transportation, ecosystems, networks, and the phenomena found there. Therefore, by simulating natural phenomena and social phenomena on a computer together with scientific knowledge of mathematics · computer and literary knowledge such as economics and psychology, and by taking advantage of these results, We are conducting research on stock price forecasting, data mining, traffic congestion mitigation and so on. While actively discussing, both the teacher and the students are learning together. People who are interested in various things are welcome. 1) Stock price forecast, company analysis, artificial market simulation, 2) easing traffic congestion, running in rows, 3) evolutionary calculations such as grammar evolution and so on.

Dr. Kianfar’s research interests include traffic operations, traffic modeling and simulation, Intelligent Transportation Systems, connected vehicles, transportation safety, optimization and heuristic techniques.
While studying at University of Missouri, Dr. Kianfar developed a connected vehicle simulation test-bed. The simulation test-bed provided a foundation to further investigate the various applications of connected vehicle technology. The test-bed was used to develop a framework for the placement of roadside equipment units (RSEs) in an urban network.
